Fill In The Blanks Friday

Yay it's Friday!! That means that we get the keys to our new house tomorrow, and I could not be more excited. On the other hand, I have the worst cold I've had in ages and hardly slept last night so I don't have much energy to put into decorating tomorrow, but hey ho.

Anyway, here are this week's blanks, from Lauren. Go take part yourself if you fancy...

1.  One thing I plan on doing to relax this weekend is sleep, that's the only time I'll have for relaxing this weekend because the rest of the weekend will be spent decorating our new house!! Did I mention that I'm excited about this?! We're painting the living room, dining room and Beau's bedroom, all in a light silvery grey colour, similar to this

2.  A big pet peeve of mine is when people criticise the choices I make as a mother, or try and tell me how I should do things when it comes to Beau. My mum has made this mistake a few times and I'm always quick to tell her that I don't need to do everything her way, and if I'm wrong then that's my decision too. There are so many books out there which tell you how to raise your children, and I wish I could just burn them all. You should bring up your children the way you think is best, all the while you're doing them no harm. If I let Beau stay up until 8:30 because he isn't tired, instead of sending him to bed at 7:30 because that's "bed time" then so be it. Live and let live.

3.  I am really loving chevron print at the moment. I want to do all the soft furnishings in my house with it, but it's so hard to come by in the UK. The only place I can get it is from US sellers on Etsy, and by the time I've paid the shipping, it's just too expensive to justify. Hopefully the UK will catch on to the chevron trend soon and we'll be inundated with beautiful things here too

These beauties are from Designer Pillow Shop on Etsy

4. The rain is not bothering me too much. I kind of like being tucked up indoors in the dry and watching the rain outside. There's something very cosy and comforting about it.

5. My favourite girly indulgence is nail polish. Like Lauren, I don't have time to wear it very often these days but when I do, I feel so much prettier and more presentable.

6. A song I always get stuck in my head is Gangam Style. If you haven't heard it, then lucky you. It is the most irritating pop song, from Korea, and the babies are obsessed with it. Every time they hear it they get so excited and start dancing, which is super cute but god that song is annoying!!

7.  The best cure for stress is a jolly good cry. I think that us humans are too afraid to cry sometimes and try to just bottle things up, but crying is such a release. Next time you're feeling stressed, just let go and have a good sob. You might have a little head ache but you'll feel much less stressed.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Please feel free to leave me feedback in the comments section, I really love hearing from you .

Big love

Fill In The Blanks Friday

Happy Friday one and all! This has been a pretty exciting week for me because we're moving house in a couple of weeks time so I've been buying pretty things for our new home, and making lists of all the pretty things I will buy when I can afford them. Check out my Pinterest board Edward Street for a glimpse at my mood board of the way I would like our new home to look .

Anyhoo, here are this week's blanks from Lauren over at The Little Things We Do. As always please take part if you fancy and leave me your comments if you have the time, I love hearing from my readers, all two of you :o)

1.  My favourite flower is  ooh I'm not really a very flowery person. Flowers die on me, and I never ever buy them for myself. If I really had to choose I suppose it would be a hibiscus flower. I love tropical plants, to the point where I had this little tropical scene tattooed on my back a few years ago

2.  You should never talk about  people's mistakes, if you have forgiven them. I believe that if you say you forgive somebody for something then you also have to forget about it, and if you can't forgive them then you need to re-assess that person's place in your life. I am still working on this myself, and I have been known to dig up old dirt in an argument, and I kick myself for doing it, as it ends up hurting everyone all over again.

3.  My favourite discovery as of late is muller light Greek style yoghurts. They are only half a "syn" per pot on slimming world but they totally don't taste like a low fat yoghurt. They are really creamy, and great with fruit or on cereal. Yum.

4. This fall (autumn for us Brits) you will probably find me wearing   my new size 8 (US size 4 I think) jeans (yep, I just got back into size 8 jeans after 5 years!!), my tan leather knee high flat boots, and a cosy jumper or cardigan. I love knitwear, and if it's chunky, boyish, or leopard print then all the better :o)

5. I wish I were  in New York. It is my favourite place in the whole world, especially at this time of year when it's all decorated with pumpkins for fall, and the ice rinks are going up. I was there in November two years ago and we were staying just down the street from Bryant Park, so most days we would wander up there and have a mooch around the pop up market and watch the skaters for a while over a hot chocolate. If I had the money and could work there, I would move there tomorrow.

I took this picture of the ice rink at the Rockefeller Centre the day before they started putting up the big tree

6. My favourite TV show currently is  Hart of Dixie. I've only just started watching them after recording the
m all, and I love it.

7.  This weekend I want to knit. I am currently working on a couple of cable knit cushions for my brothers. I'm contemplating adding in a little fair isle stag motif on the back, what do you think??

Hope you have a great weekend,

Big love

Fill In The Blanks Friday

Happy Friday people! Isn't Friday just the best day of the week? Here are some blanks...as usual please play along for yourself over at Lauren's Blog, The Little Things We Do

1.  The last thing I ate was  oven baked salmon with Uncle Ben's Mexican style rice, for lunch. I'm dieting with Slimming World at the moment and that meal is only 2 and a half "syns" and filling which makes it a double winner. Most things I eat are pretty healthy and boring at the moment, but I've lost 16 and a half pounds so far and have 11 to go until my target weight, so it won't be forever.

This me at 37 weeks pregnant at my baby shower, then exactly a year later, wearing the same dress but  49 pounds lighter!

2.  The last time I went to the beach was  about a month ago I think. Dad and I went down to Seaford one evening to try and get some nice sunset shots, but it took us a little too long to get there and we pretty much missed it, doh! I got this one though which I quite like, and below is Dad running down the beach trying to capture it!

3.  My last vacation was  in September 2010, James and I went down to Dorset with his family. I am longing to go on holiday abroad but I just don't see the point until Beau is a little older, and isn't so reliant on his routine.
The beautiful Lulworth Cove in Dorset

James and I on the cliff at Lulworth Cove

Me, Bridie and Sarah

The cottage we rented was an old mill, super nice

This was on our walk through a cow field to the local pub!

Pretty beach huts

4. The last place I drove was  to work yesterday then home via running club with Sarah's Runners. I ran the 3 mile route, and clocked 3.18 miles in 36:46, though I hadn't run for 2 weeks prior to that so was a bit out of practise

5. The last song I listened to was Pound the Alarm, by Nicki Minaj, but not by choice I hasten to add. Beau and Ivy LOVE dance music and so we have MTV Dance on in the background for most of the day, and Nicki Minaj is their absolute favourite! The last song I listened to by choice, was Moondance by Michael Buble, on my way home from running club. I do love a bit of Michael Buble

6. The last thing I watched on TV was  New Girl. It's a crowd pleaser in our house, we all love it. I want to be buddies with Zooey Deschanel, I love her

7.  The last time I said "I love you" was  when I just put Ivy down for her nap. I am continuously telling the babies how much I love them, they are so darned cute and lovable.

Big Love

Fill In The Blanks Friday

Hello!! Here are my blanks for this week. As usual, please join in for yourself over at Lauren's blog, The Little Things We Do

1.  My first memory is   from when I lived in Australia when I was two years old. I remember sitting on my parents' bedroom floor watching "Neighbours". I have other memories from Australia, including the time my older brother Nick fell off the curb outside our house and split his head open, and how Nick and Becs would go over to the little lake opposite our house and get leaches stuck to their legs. The random things I remember eh!

2.  My first love was  my first boyfriend I suppose. To think of him that way is weird, because it ended pretty badly, but I did love him in the beginning. I can't deny him that.

3.  My very first favourite colour was  pink, I think. I only say that because when I was about 5, we moved house and my Dad said I could choose what colours he painted my room. I chose baby pink for the walls, and this weird, light forest green for the woodwork...what was I thinking?

4. The first time I really felt like a "grown-up" was when    I looked over from my hospital bed at this beautiful little baby staring up at me from his perspex cot, and I realised that he was solely dependent on me, and I was over the moon about it. I finally understood so much more about things my mum and Dad had said to me over the years, and how the love you have for your children is enough to break your heart.

5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is  usually hope that Beau will go back to sleep for a few minutes, then resign myself to the fact that he won't :o) So I get up, go into his room, pick him up and give him a great big cuddle. It's a pretty amazing start to any day, I'll be honest.

6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc...) I ever bought was   Haha cringe! It was the Mysterious Girl single by Peter Andre. Did I really just admit to that?

7.  My first car was a Fiat Cinquecento Sporting 1.1, in black! My first boyfriend was a Fiat enthusiast and he had talked me into it being an ideal first car for me. It did me OK to be honest, but it was like a biscuit tin on wheels. I used to feel sure that if I had a crash with a cyclist, the cyclist would come off better.

Fill In The Blanks Friday!

Hey followers!

This is something I used to do regularly, and I loved it. So here it is again. You can also find it on my new knitting blog, My Name Is Purl.

1.  Something I am very proud of is   having lost 1 stone, 2 and a half pounds recently. I put on around 3 stone when I was pregnant, 2 and a half of which came off pretty easily with breast feeding, but I just couldn't shift the rest. So I started running 3 times and week and I joined Slimming World and it was hands down the best decision I ever made. I wasn't exactly happy with my weight before I got pregnant so I decided to get to my goal weight, instead of just losing the other half a stone (7lbs) to get me back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I have another 11lbs to get me to my goal weight, but I'm pretty proud of what I've done so far :o)

2.  My favourite thing about myself is  This is the hardest question ever. I'm in a pretty weird place at the moment and I'm really struggling to think of the answer to this question, so I'm going to have to skip it and hopefully come back to it at a later date.

3.  My favourite colour for fall/autumn is  Navy Blue. It's also my favourite colour for winter, spring and summer :o) Though I'm also loving myself a bit of mustard yellow right now too.

4. Something I've been learning lately is    that the common denominator is me. I need to do some work on myself and be less of a stressful person.

5. A book I am reading now/have read recently is  The Help, by Katherine Stockett. I saw the film first and loved it, the book is ten times better. I recommend it highly.

6. My favourite Pandora Station is  As a Brit, I have no idea what Pandora is so I'm guessing it's an American thing?? Over here, Pandora is a jewellery company.

7.  This weekend I will   be having a father/daughter/grandson lunch with my dad tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to. It's so rare that my dad is allowed out without his wife, so it will be so good to have a proper catch up. Then we're going to view a house that we might rent, woo hoo!

Fill In The Blanks Friday

Here are my blanks...Happy Friday :o)

1.   What I love most about my home is  my family who live there with me. Particularly my two cats Cassidy and Pharrell, who I am going to miss SO much when I move out next month! Technically they're my dad and step mum's cats and I'm moving in with James, Becs and Jim (my sister and her boyfriend) ready for the arrival of our baby! But we will have Becs and Jim's cat Rosalie with us at the new house and she is a sweet little thing too.
 2.  I'm excited because,  I am moving into a new home next month in anticipation of our baby which is expected on September 5th! It's a little unconventional but James and I are going to be renting a house with Becs and Jim to save us all some money for a little while. The house is just perfect, and it'll be the first time James and I have officially lived together...very exciting.

3.  My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I'm frustrated is   to have a good cry and go for a drive to mull things over. When I'm not pregnant I would also call and friend and go for a beer, but the beer part is somewhat frowned upon whilst you're cooking a little human being :o)
4.  Currently I am craving  Cheesy Wotsits crisps and banana milkshake. I never used to like wotsits but since I've been pregnant I can't get enough of them, and even better is the Marks and Spencer's own version which are particularly cheesy...Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmmmmm!

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is   her craziness. My mum is totally nuts, but in a good way. She says the things you dread your mum saying, and nothing is off bounds with her. My friends all love her too because they can talk to her like one of the girls, and she is always totally honest in her opinions. She is also the epitome of a "mum" in the sense that she would drop everything if one of her children needed her, and she would give us the world on a stick if she could. I am so lucky to have her, and can't wait to give her the gift of her first grandchild later this year. She will be the best nanna ever.

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be  "The Unravelling of a Fuck-wit". Technically this isn't actually true, but it's the title of a book my best friend has been writing for about 10 years and I think it's such a great title. I would definitely pick up that book if I saw it in a shop...and I am a bit of a fuck-wit sometimes :o)

I have to get back into doing this weekly, I do love it. Take part your self over at Lauren's blog

Fill In The Blanks Friday

Well hello there! Between work and going to some awesome gigs this week I have been a very busy lady, so haven't really had time to check in here. I will do a proper post soon, but for now here are my blanks, late as usual! If you want to join in, you can do so here

1.   I am  a sister, a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend, a godmother, a worrier (not a warrior)...I am lots of things, the list is endless

2.  I wish   James was coming to New York with me. I am going to have an awesome time with Matt and Brough but it would be that bit better if I could share it with my beau too

3.  I like  vegging on the sofa in my comfies (like I am right now), getting dressed up with somewhere nice to go, milkshakes from bean, cuddles with James, taking photos, going to see live bands and discovering new artists, shopping for all things pretty, going on holidays, Christmas (I am already stupidly excited about it), dreaming about winning the lottery, cuddles with Cassidy and Pharrell, roast dinners...this list could get long so I will stop there :o)

4.  I can   officially say that Darwin Deez is my favourite band at the moment. I went to see them live in Brighton last night and they rocked. If you don't know their music, do yourself a favour and check it out. My favourite track off their debut album is Bed Space

5.  I hope    that my little brother Matt (who I call Sheepy because of his fluffy wuffy hair) feels better soon. He was up in the night being really ill and I hate seeing my loved ones feeling poorly. He is currently laid out on the other sofa feeling very sorry for himself. I'm doing all I can to look after him and refreshing the cold flannel on his head :o(
6.  I think   I have some amazing people in my life, and I am a very lucky girl.

7.  I was  going to go to London for a party tonight, but instead Jodie, Ashley and James are going to come over and we're going to get a take away and watch X Factor and keep little Sheepy company. I would have liked to have gone to the party but it's much more important that I'm here to look after my little bro

Fill In The Blanks Friday

1. Blogging is so much fun! I'm so glad I started

2. A current fashion trend I wish I was brave enough to wear is massive high heels. The trouble is, I'm such a wimp and I'm all for comfort over fashion. There's just no getting around the fact they are hideously uncomfortable, as beautiful as they may be.

3. My greatest accomplishment in life thus far is goodness I don't even know. Maybe just getting to the age of 23 with my health, good friends, family that I love, and no massive regrets??

4. If I had to choose between a mountain or a beach vacation I'd choose right now a mountain vacation, I haven't been skiing for the last 2 winters and I really want to go!! I love the mountains

5. A talent I wish I had is to be able to play the guitar and/or the piano. I adore music and I think being able to play an instrument would be very fulfilling!
6. A talent I do have is I'm getting quite into arts and crafts. And I'm finding that I'm OK at it!! Apart from that I don't really know...sadly I don't think I'm very talented?!!

7. This week has not been long enough!! I haven't finished Edward's christening gift yet and the christening is on Sunday!! Argh!!

Have a great weekend everybody xxx

Fill In The Blanks Friday...on time again!

It's Friday and you know what that means!! If you want to take part yourself you can do so via Lauren's Blog

1.   The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is  usually have a little panic that I have overslept, then check email, twitter and facebook on my iPhone. That is beyond sad isn't it?

2.  Today I wish I was  cuddled up in front of a roaring log fire with James and a gingerbread latte

3.  If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd  put it in my savings account as I'm going to NYC next month - woo hoo!! Then spend it at Woodbury Common when I get there

4.  Tomorrow    James and I are having a movies and Mad Men day, and I can't wait! Then in the evening I'm babysitting and will probably crack on with the gift that I am making for Edward for his christening!!

5.  Two things that don't go together are   India and the Commonwealth Games! I'm watching it at the moment and it's just been so poorly organised.

6.  Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is   sweet treats!! I always end up coming home with cookies or chocolate ot sweets or something else bad for me.

7.  The last time I tried something new was   when I bought these weird soft drinks from Home Sense because I adore the bottles they come in. They don't taste so good though!!
I hope you all have a great weekend

Fill In The Blanks Friday

I can't believe I'm getting this in on time for the second time...it might have something to do with the fact that I'm working till 7:30pm on a Friday and need 5 minutes of "me" time!

To take part, go to Lauren's Blog

1.   True happiness is  well I simply can't put it any better than Lauren...warm, full and loved just about sums it up!
2.  The most surreal moment of my life was I'm not quite sure, there are a few contenders. Possibly the moment my Dad told me that my Nan had passed away. He picked me up from work and I had just had the best, fun filled shift. I came out laughing, and was telling Dad about it in the car on the way home. Then he broke the news that Nan had died that evening, and in that instant my whole world changed. One of the people I loved most had just gone, no more. It was surreal to say the least.

3.  My favorite texture is  oooh that's a tough one. I'm a real texture person. I love fur (not real of course) and basically anything really soft, like worn leather, suede etc.

4.  My signature color is    like Lauren, my wardrobe is predominantly grey. I try and jazz it up with flashes of colour, and she's right in saying it matches everything.

5.  My signature style is   I honestly don't think I have one. I like so many different looks, and I experiment with them all. Day to day though I tend to go for cute/casual, like a pair of boyfriend jeans with a cute pair of pumps, or a pretty skirt and tights with a chunky pair of worker boots. I like to mix things up.
6.  If I could choose one store to spend my life savings at, it would be   Topshop I think. Although I know I would look like every other person on the street, I do like their stuff. It's usually well made and  you can get everything from your basics to your fancy pieces. Just a shame it's gotten so expensive as it's become more popular.

7.  My best thing about autumn is   so many things! I'm sitting at my desk right now and kind of love that it's getting dark outside and I can hear and see the rain spluttering at the window and wet leaves on the pavements, but I'm safe and cosy in the warm. I love it when you walk or drive past a house when it's wet and dark outside and you can see lights on inside and people just going about their business, or the light flickering from the TV. It makes me really excited about getting home and gives me this warm fuzzy feeling. I LOVE AUTUMN!!
Have a great weekend everybody xxx

Fill In The Blanks Friday...hopefully!

Well I altogether gave up trying to post this last week, it just wasn't playing ball. So let's see if I have better luck today! And later I will try and get a post up about the London Tattoo Convention!!

1.   In the story of my life the actor who would play me would be  goodness that's a tough question!! Maybe Zooey Deschanel also, I love her. She is the perfect mix of cute, funny, weird and sassy.

2.  If I could change one thing about the world it would be  to make the world more fair. So the people who work the hardest and do things for other people would be the richest, not only financially but health wise and luck too. People who sit around and do nothing to help others should be the poorest.

3.  Yesterday was Sunday which makes today Monday, back to work! Noooooo......

4.  My favorite comfort food is   a roast dinner with all the trimmings, roast potatoes, parsnips, yorkshire puddings, stuffing....yum

5.  My new favorite blog find is   Amber Blue Bird it's so cute. I really enjoy reading it.

6.  If I could meet any blog friend (who I haven't met yet) in real life, I'd choose to meet   well I'm pretty new to all of this, but I really enjoy these fill in the blanks posts so it would have to be Lauren at The Little Things We Do

7.  My favorite breakfast food is   cinnamon toast with fresh fruit, greek yoghurt and honey...deee-lish

Have a great week everybody! xxx

Well I have tried to post Fill In The Blanks Friday twice now and both times it has messed up so I've had to delete them...I guess fate just doesn't want me to do it on time two weeks running!! I will try and post it late, that way hopefully it will work :o)

Fill In The Blanks Friday...On Time!!

I can't believe I'm managing to actually do this on a friday today! If you want to take part yourself, you can do so via Lauren's blog

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is snails. I had to serve them when I did my ski season in France so I figured I ought to know what they were like incase any of my guests asked. As expected they were unpleasant...it was more the texture which freaked me out than a bad taste, an experience I shan't be repeating

2. I wouldn't be caught dead in the latest trend of wearing belly exposing cropped tops. Fair enough if you have a flat stomach and are 18 years old, but since neither of the above apply to me, I will be avoiding this trend like the plague

3. When I am 75 I will.... hopefully be acting like I'm still 23...and surrounded by children and grandchildren

4. If I had to be named after a place I would want to be named gosh that's a tough one. Something beautiful and French if I had the time to look up some place named, but since I don't...Sydney...haha edit - I decided to steal someone else's idea and change my mind to India. If I have a daughter that is definitely what I will call her

5. My name is "Katie" because my Dad didn't like Daisy (my Mum's first choice for me) then "Elizabeth" after my Dad's favourite aunt

6. My all time favorite photo is a photo of me and my three siblings sitting on the sofa when we lived in Australia. We were all very young and pulling silly faces sitting in our pyjamas...I love my siblings

7. If I could afford it I would have a chef to cook me healthy fulfilling meals every day, a hair stylist to make me look pretty each morning and a massage therapist to relax me each evening. The hair stylist would also have to come back at night to stroke my hair, there is nothing that sends me to sleep quicker, and James gets bored of it after 2 minutes.

Have a great weekend everybody xxx
