I have recently discovered a cute little website by The Hills star Lo Bosworth called
The Lo Down and she posted an
article recently about a book she read which changed her eating habits and made her think realistically about her attitude to food and exercise. This instantly struck a cord with me and I have long suffered with my complete lack of will power when it comes to food and the fact that exercise bores to hell out of me. I am truly a believer though that eating healthily and exercising regularly is the only way to get the figure of my dreams. I am not really one for fad diets, I tried the Slim Fast diet for a week but it made me feel so lethargic and gave me stomach pains so I stopped it. I don't trust a diet which even restricts the amount of fruit and vegetables you are allowed to eat. An old work colleague lost a lot of weight by cutting out all sugar and white flour from her diet, and while this seems like a sensible option, my struggle with will power is what gets in my way.
So on Lo's recommendation, I have ordered
Skinny Bitch, by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin.
The website claims it is
"A no nonsense, tough love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous" and that is exactly what I need. It says
"You cannot keep shoveling the same crap into your mouth every day and expect to lose weight" and whilst this is totally common sense, I need it to be drilled in a little firmer. And to help me cook the right foods and hopefully make it a little easier to plan what I'm going to eat, I also ordered the follow up book, Skinny Bitch In The Kitch
So once these books arrive and I have read them, I will let you know how we got on. I'm not expecting a miracle, and I realise that at some point I will have to accept that only hard work and determination is going to get me my dream body, but it's a start...
LOVED that book, it changed the way I viewed food too and it's hilarious :-)
